Blue and White Abstract Painting Art Gallery Gallery Dennis Painting

About Dennis J. A. Brown

Dennis credits his grandmother for starting him on his lifelong journey of creativity. When he was four years old, she encouraged him to paint with basic watercolors. Fortunately, she kept the results of his efforts and Dennis still has one today. From his early childhood, he can remember creating images of familiar objects and landscapes.

After much experimentation and education, Dennis settled into painting landscapes on location. Recently he has progressed to abstract shapes, design, and strong color patterns. He also enjoys conducting workshops and helping other artists.

Dennis spent his youth in Saskatchewan, a wonderful place, he recalls. It gave him a deep appreciation for the landscape. He always had a desire to capture it through painting and began using oil paints. For many reasons he later switched to watercolors and acrylics. They presented further challenges when painting on location and are still the medium of choice for Dennis as they possess qualities of strength and sensitivity that he finds essential for his work. In recent years he has moved to less realistic artwork, creating abstracts with strong color and design based on his thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
